FURRED STOMACH AND BUTTER-FLIES est une invitation à entrer dans l’œuvre de Marie Losier par son bestiaire.
Artiste plasticienne, cinéaste, dentelière, magicienne... sa pratique labile résiste aux catégories.
L’anomalie de sa poésie pétille d’un support à l’autre, d’une espèce à l’autre.
Du 9 novembre au 21 décembre 2021 la malice animale de Marie Losier est conviée à The Film Gallery.
C’est une histoire mobile, euphorique et monstrueuse.
Derrière des rideaux cliniques, rouges et translucides,
elle raconte une naissance du cinéma sur des lambeaux de papier de riz.
Ou bien, une mise à bas en celluloïd de visages-amis colorés.
La géante aux pieds griffus porte des caméras dans son ventre.
Sur un fond vert, Félix Kubin et sa cigogne veillent sagement cette genèse.
Voilà que sans y être invité, un ours encagoulé s’immisce dans la galerie.
Il déchausse sa patte de porcelaine sur le sol de béton.
À pas feutrés, il s’accroche au plafond et s’ouvre l’estomac pour y projeter les tableaux animés de Taxidermisez-moi !
Dans le furry-screen, pépient des créatures espiègles et poudrées.
Exhumés à la nuit tombée, ces noctambules aux poils lustrés, luisent dans la pénombre.
Ils dansent, aux aguets.
Et tonnent les coups de fusil sur une chanson douce qui craque et qui grince. Les hommes meurent comme des bêtes.
Les animaux règnent à nouveau.
Gare à la torpeur d’une caresse à l’aquarelle, elle est celle du loup aux babines humectées.
Des lèvres, le rouge déborde.
Au bord de la mer, des mariniers masqués de plastique blanc ont le maquillage qui coule.
Un yéti les capture pour les conduire dans une cave noire et blanche.
Les petites et grosses bêtes d’une famille retrouvée par Marie Losier parlent une langue enchantée,
réensauvagée depuis des entrailles qui pépitent.

Her ephemeral practice defies categorization as a plastic artist, filmmaker, lace maker, and magician.
Her poetry's anomaly sparkles from one medium to another, from one species to another.
Marie Losier's animal mischief is invited to The Film Gallery from November 9 to December 21, 2021.
It's a heartfelt, euphoric, and monstrous story.
Behind clinical red and translucent curtains, it tells the story of the birth of cinema on scraps of rice paper.
Alternatively, a celluloid birthing of brightly colored friendly faces.
The clawed-footed giant carries cameras in her belly.
Félix Kubin and his stork wisely watch over this genesis against a green background.
A hooded bear enters the gallery uninvited.
On the concrete floor, he raises his porcelain paw.
He softly hangs from the ceiling and opens his stomach to project Taxidermize Me’s animated tableaux.
Mischievous and powdery creatures chirp in the furry-screen.
These night owls with glossy hair were discovered at nightfall and glow in the half-light.
They dance while keeping an eye out.
And rifle shots pierce through a sweet song with creaks and squeaks. Men perish like animals.
Animals have regained control.
Beware the torpor of a watercolor caress: it is the torpor of a wolf with wet lips.
Red oozes from the lips.
Sailors in white plastic masks at the beach, their make-up is running.
A yeti kidnaps them and drags them into a black and white cellar.
The big and small animals of a family discovered by Marie Losier speak an enchanted language re-saved from entrail nuggets.
